BuddyPress & bbPress Settings
Community and forum likes — shared options plus BuddyPress-specific notifications and activity.
Running a community or forum? WP ULike adds reaction buttons to BuddyPress activity and bbPress topics using the same core settings you already know from Posts.
Each plugin gets its own tab — only visible when that plugin is active.
BuddyPress tab
Settings → Content Types → BuddyPress
Shared with Posts
Template, automatic display, button type, counters, voting rules, likers box, and all Pro options (dislike, percentage, etc.).
See Shared Content Type Options.
BuddyPress-only options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
Button Position | Activity Content or Activity Meta (not top/bottom of post) |
Enable Activity Comment Likes | Allow liking replies inside the activity stream |
Add Activity Entries for Likes | Post a BuddyPress activity item when someone likes content |
Post Activity Text | Template for “user liked a post” activity entries |
Comment Activity Text | Template for comment-like activity entries |
Enable User Notifications | Notify users when their content is liked |
Disable Notifications On | Turn off notifications per content type |
Pro: Display Automation
Use Tools → Display Automation for rule-based placement on activity streams, member profiles, or specific BP contexts — especially when automatic display is too broad.
bbPress tab
Settings → Content Types → bbPress
Uses the shared option set without Posts-only page filters. Position is top/bottom like Posts.
Typical setup:
- Enable Automatic Display on bbPress.
- Choose a compact template.
- Test on a single topic before going site-wide.
Tips for community sites
- Cache: Enable Site uses caching under General — activity feeds are often cached.
- Logged-in only: Communities usually require accounts anyway — keep vote restrictions on.
- Statistics: Use the Activities and Topics charts to see what resonates.
- Staging first: Test BuddyPress/bbPress on a copy of your site — theme hooks vary.
Integrations: WPML, WooCommerce, and caching plugins — Third-Party Integrations
