General Settings
Site-wide options for notifications, privacy, performance, admin columns, and statistics access.
General settings control how WP ULike behaves everywhere — not where buttons appear (that is under Content Types).
WP ULike → Settings → General
What you will find here
Think of this page in four groups:
- Notifications — confirmation pop-ups after likes and unlikes.
- Counters — how numbers look on the front end.
- Privacy & performance — IP handling and cache compatibility.
- Admin tools — columns in wp-admin, Statistics access, editor panel.
Notifications
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Enable Toast Notices | Show a small confirmation when someone likes or unlikes. |
Disable Toast On | Turn off toasts for specific content types if they feel noisy. |
Style toast appearance under Customize → Toast Notifications.
Counter display
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Compact Counter (1k Format) | Shows 1.2k instead of 1200 for large counts. |
Like / Unlike Prefix & Suffix | Add text around counts — e.g. +42 or 42 likes. |
Dislike Prefix & Suffix | Same for dislike counts Pro. |
Privacy
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Anonymize IP Addresses | Masks part of each visitor IP in vote logs. |
Do Not Store IP Addresses | Skips IP logging entirely (enable anonymize first). |
Performance & caching
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Site Uses Caching | Tells WP ULike you run a cache plugin — helps counts stay accurate on cached pages. Turn this on if you use WP Rocket, LiteSpeed, etc. |
Disable Assets On | Skip loading WP ULike CSS/JS on selected page types — e.g. hide assets on the homepage if buttons only appear on single posts. |
Admin columns & access
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Show Admin Columns | Adds a Likes column to Posts (and Comments when enabled) so you can sort by popularity in wp-admin. |
Statistics Page Access | Limit who can open the Statistics dashboard by user role Pro. |
Show Display Panel in Post Editor | Adds the WP ULike sidebar panel when editing posts — per-post overrides Pro. |
View Tracking | Count page views per content type for engagement rate in Statistics Pro. |
Enable Serialized Data Storage | Stores editor panel data efficiently — run Convert to Serialized Format under Maintenance after enabling on upgraded sites [pro]. |
Blacklist
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Blacklist Integration | Use your own IP list or sync with WordPress disallowed comment keys. |
Blacklist Entries | IPs blocked from voting. |
Backup & restore
Export and import all WP ULike settings from the Help page — useful when cloning a site or moving to staging.
Next: Shared Content Type Options for button placement and voting rules.
